Dear Colleagues,
I would like to thank everyone for helping to create such a successful Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) program for our incoming students and their families. During four two-day sessions in late June and early July, we welcomed more than 3,200 people to campus, including 1,500 first-year and transfer students and their proud – and very invested – family members.
Putting on such a large-scale event is truly a team effort, and I would like to thank everyone who came in early and stayed late to create a welcoming and inviting atmosphere for our newest students and their families. Your devotion underscores our University-wide commitment to maximizing the investment and outcomes of our students and the unmatched level of support we are committed to providing.
We have much to celebrate as we look forward to the start of the new academic year. Next month, we will officially welcome the second largest first-year class in the University’s rich history. It is our largest first-year class since 2017 and one of our most selective ever.
I believe that a message I shared with our incoming students and their families is one we should always remember, particularly amid the challenges facing higher education and growing conversations about the value of a college degree: Higher education is worth it, and the right university is worth it.
Ultimately, we are in the business of – and excel at – transforming lives. What makes the University of New Haven such an extraordinarily special place is your passion and your purpose. Thank you for all you do. Power On!
All my best,
Jens
