The Henry C. Lee College of

Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences will provide world-class education, scholarship and professional training in the areas of justice, safety and security. We will educate our students relative to core theories and research in their disciplines and provide them with the skills necessary to compete in and contribute to our global society. Each of our programs will be regional, national or international leaders in their disciplines. Current major goals for the college include developing interdisciplinary programs, enhancing the social relevance and impact of programs and strengthening our core functions.

The University of New Haven’s unique and comprehensive criminal justice and forensic science programs have earned us an international reputation for excellence, and deservedly so. Classes are taught by leading professionals in the field and are enhanced by state-of-the-art research centers and labs.

Our criminal justice undergraduate program offers an unparalleled variety of concentrations in areas such as crime analysis, law enforcement, and investigative services. 

Our forensic science undergraduate program was one of the first in the nation and remains one of the most respected.  From forensic science to criminal justice to human services and legal studies to fire science, we stay on top of the latest trends in security—locally, nationally, and globally, from the home to the streets, from the workplace to cyberspace—to create curricula that meet the needs of our students and our ever-changing world. We are the first university to offer a master of science degree in national security and public safety. The University of New Haven is also home to the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science and the National Crime Scene Training Center.

All academic programs within the Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences are fully licensed and accredited by the State of Connecticut, and all programs are accredited through the University’s regional accreditation by the New England Area Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

In addition to these state and regional accrediting authorities, some of our programs also hold specialized accreditation through disciplinary accreditation bodies.

The undergraduate program in forensic science is accredited by the Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission (FEPAC) of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences.

• The three paralegal program options of the undergraduate program in Legal Studies, B.S. with a Paralegal Studies concentration, A.S. in Legal Studies, and Paralegal Studies Certificate, are approved by the American Bar Association.
