Delivery Policies (see information regarding large freight delivery policy below)
- Mail services are provided to current residents only (including resident staff of ORL) of the University of New Haven. Mail & packages will not be held or available for pickup for non-residents.
Pick-up Policies
- ID must be provided
- Personal package deliveries (faculty/staff) are not permitted. If there is an extenuating circumstance that a personal package needs to be delivered to the University, please contact the Postmaster, Mark Palmieri 203-932-7029 to discuss the matter.
Outgoing Mail Policies
- Packages and envelopes must come to the mall department ready to ship: sealed, taped up, and addressed along with a return address.
- The mail department advises the best way to ship. They will weigh and give pricing
Students may use their Charger Cash Card at the Mail Department and postage stamps are sold at the Campus Bookstore. The Mail Department does not accept any other form of payment.
Summer Mailbox Policies
- All students must return mailbox keys to the Mail Department before leaving campus; there is a $25.00 charge if the key is not returned.
- Students remaining on campus over the summer still must return key & come to Mail Department to sign-up for the summer mail list.
- Graduating & non returning students: You must contact anyone that sends mail to you with your change of address otherwise it will be returned to sender (we will not save magazines). Mail Department in the basement of Maxcy Hall.
Large Freight Delivery Policy
- When an oversized order/delivery is expected, the Mail Department should be notified prior to the delivery. Oversized orders are deliveries that require a loading dock or weigh 50lbs or more.
- When placing orders: please obtain the following instructions to the delivery company:
- Delivery date & time
- Weight of delivery
- Number of pallets
- Type of delivery, such as; hazardous, special handling, etc…
- Please provide to the delivery company and the university Mail Department :
- 2 contact names and department info
- 2 phone numbers
- a P.O. # or P-Card number
- Mail Dept phone number 203-932-7201-delivery company must call prior to making a delivery to this campus
- Once delivery is safely delivered at the Bergami Innovation Center, the intended recipient shall be notified by Mail Department staff.
- Once the recipient of the delivery is notified they must immediately contact Facilities at 203-932-7087 to have their items safely moved to their final destination.
- This applies to contractors working on campus as well.
- Failure to comply with this policy may necessitate refusal of the delivery.

Resident students may request a* personal mailbox in the following locations: Bixler Hall, Bergami Hall and Celentano Hall.
*A mail box is not necessary for residential students to receive mail or packages. Resident students are notified of any delivery that is sent to the Mail Department.
