Parking, Shuttles, and Transportation
We are pleased to announce the details of the University Parking and Transportation Program
Faculty, students and staff will self-print their own parking permit. You will still need to register on the parking website just as you have in the past, but you will print your own permit from your home, office, or university printer.
Once you’re registered, the permit will be available in your parking account to print any time it is convenient for you. Permits are black and white only so you do not need to have a color printer. The permit prints on any regular 8-1/2 x 11 inch copy paper. See a sample below. Once printed, fold and display in your vehicle, in the front, lower passenger side of the dashboard. The permit must be visible from the outside of your vehicle.
The University Police Department will no longer issue parking permits or ChargerGo Bus Passes. Inquiries can be made by email to parking@newhaven.edu.
All payments must be made by credit or debit card in the on-line parking system at the time of purchase. Cash payments are not accepted.
Before registering for your University parking permit, you are required to read the rules and regulations associated with the parking program. If you have questions or concerns after reviewing this information, please email Julie Carbonella, Director of Operations, Department of Public Safety, at parking@newhaven.edu.
Information about visitor parking on campus can be found on the external website (no login required), at https://www.newhaven.edu/parking.
Visitors to the University
All visitors to the University who are not a registered guest of a current residential student should proceed to the Maxcy parking lot (P1) and check in with the parking attendant. The attendant will advise visitors where to park. If there are no available spaces in the Maxcy parking lot, the attendant will issue a temporary placard to park in an alternate location designated by the parking attendant.
Guest of Current Residential Student
Current residential students must register all guests through the myHousing portal to receive a guest parking permit that will allow their guest to park in Railroad Salvage parking lot (P51). No parking is permitted on main campus or any other lot for registered guest of current residential students. If you are a guest of a residential student at Main Street or Savin Court, you will be permitted to park at those locations space permitting. Guest of Main Street residents are only permitted to park in front of their assigned condo of the host resident. If you are a guest of a residential student at Atwood, Forest Hills, or Park View you must use public street parking or can park in Railroad Salvage parking lot (P51).

All persons who will be parking a motor vehicle on property owned or controlled by the University of New Haven, or who are in local University-sponsored housing, are required to display a valid University of New Haven parking permit on their vehicle. Vehicles not properly displaying a valid parking permit will be ticketed and may be towed. Registering for a permit online is not sufficient to satisfy the permitting requirement.
Vehicles displaying a valid handicapped parking permit issued by the State of Connecticut or any other state or country may park in any marked handicapped space on campus.
For full rules and regulations, to view the parking maps, and to learn how to register for your parking permit, choose one of these options:
I Live in On-Campus University Housing
Applies to Undergraduate Residents of any residence hall except: The Atwood, Park View, Forest Hills, and Savin Court.
I Live in Off-Campus University Housing
Applies to Undergraduate and Graduate Residents of: The Atwood, Park View, Forest Hills and Savin Court.
Students, faculty, and staff can make use of a number of transportation services offered by the University. Options are provided to help students quickly travel between campus buildings or residence halls, University-sponsored parking lots, and local railroad and bus stations.
