ChargerRec Department Guidelines

Standard Guidelines 

  • Metal racquets should have racquet guards.
  • Protective eyewear is strongly recommended.
  • Individuals may reserve racquetball courts for racquetball or wallyball only.
  • Food, gum, and drinks (with the exception of water) are not permitted.
  • Large personal belongings such as jackets and bags should be stored in a locker or cubby.
  • ChargerREC is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • Unsolicited photography and videography in the facility is not permitted.
  • Appropriate athletic footwear/attire is required at all times.
    • Appropriate footwear is closed-toe, closed-heel non-marking athletic shoes. Sneakers are strongly recommended.
    • Appropriate attire is athletic pants or shorts, t-shirt, sweatshirt, or tank top. 

Reservations 

  • Courts may be reserved through the Member Portal no more than 1 day in advance for 30-60-90 minute sessions.
  • Please cancel your reservation if you can no longer attend.
  • Up to 2 reservations are permitted per day, but must have a break in between reservations.
  • Reservations may be limited due to events and programs; ChargerREC will email you if your reservation is canceled.

Standard Guidelines 

  • The use of still or video cameras and cell phone video calls inside the locker room is prohibited. 
  • Only individuals who have purchased locker rentals may store belongings overnight. Please see the Welcome Desk for more  information on locker rentals.
  • Day-use lockers are available for individuals to store their belongings during their workout.
  • Locks left on day-use lockers overnight will be cut. Belongings left in the lockers will be removed and stored for 30 days.
  • To prevent clutter, all belongings should be stored in lockers. Individuals are strongly encouraged to use locks when storing their belongings in lockers.
  • The Department of Campus Recreations is NOT responsible for lost or stolen items. 

Court Reservations

    • Appropriate attire is athletic pants or shorts, t-shirt, sweatshirt, or tank top. 
  • All guidelines for the Gymnasium Courts apply to this area.
 
  • GroupX studios are available for general member use when not reserved.  All reservations will be posted by the studio door.
  • GroupX equipment must remain inside of the studio.

Standard Guidelines

  • Individuals 16 years of age and under are not permitted in the Fitness Center (including upper level cardio area, lower level weight room, and functional training room.)
  • Members are required to wipe down equipment before/after use. Gym wipes are available throughout the facility.
  • During peak hours, individuals are encouraged to keep their use of equipment to a maximum of 20 minutes.
  • Individuals should be aware and stand clear of moving equipment.
  • Equipment must be returned to its original location after use.
  • Leaning or propping of equipment against walls is not permitted.
  • All equipment must be used in the manner for which it is designed. Modification of equipment is not permitted.
  • The use of chalk (powder and liquid) is not permitted.
  • Food, gum, and drinks (with the exception of water) are not permitted.
  • Large personal belongings such as jackets and bags should be stored in a locker or cubby.
  • ChargerREC is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • Unsolicited photography and videography in the facility is not permitted. If recording yourself, please respect others by changing your recording angle to avoid others.
  • Only personal trainers and group fitness instructors with written approval from ChargerREC professional staff are permitted to provide services in the facility. Use of the facility for commercial gain (such as to conduct private instruction or training of others) is prohibited.
  • Appropriate athletic footwear/attire is required at all times.
    • Appropriate footwear is closed-toe, closed-heel athletic shoes.Sneakers are strongly recommended. 
    • Appropriate attire is athletic pants or shorts, t-shirt, sweatshirt, or tank top. 

Class Registration

  • Participants must pre-register for classes through the member portal or at the Welcome desk. Class registration opens 2 days before a scheduled class.  Participants must check in with staff before class begins. We give a 5-minute grace period for check in, or your reserved spot will become available to others and doors may be locked preventing entry.
  • Participants can also opt in to a wait list and will be notified via email of the option to join the registration if a space opens up.

Standard Guidelines

  • For certain classes, participants who arrive after the warm-up period will not be permitted entry to class, due to the importance of a sufficient warm-up period.
  • Maximum enrollment for each class is dependent on what equipment will be utilized for the class, in order to provide the safest environment possible. Once maximum number of participants has entered, the class will be closed.
  • Participants are highly encouraged to stay for the entire duration of the class to ensure participation in the proper cool-down phase.
  • The Department of Campus Recreation reserves the right to adjust the schedule, class formats and instructors when necessary.
  • Participants must silence cell phones and may not use cell phones during class.
  • Food, gum, and drinks (with the exception of water) are not permitted.
  • Large personal belongings such as jackets and bags should be stored in a locker or cubby.
  • ChargerREC is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • Unsolicited photography and videography in the facility is not permitted.

    • Appropriate attire is athletic pants or shorts, t-shirt, sweatshirt, or tank top. 
  • Members, Day Use Visitors and Guests of Beckerman Recreation Center who fail to comply with ChargerREC or University policies or procedures may be subject to disciplinary action. Failure to comply with facility policies may result in and is not limited to, the following actions: removal from the facility, suspension of membership privileges, disciplinary action with the Office of Student Conduct, and criminal prosecution.
  • Examples of offenses include, but are not limited to: false use of identification, destruction of property, theft of property, failure to follow facility or ChargerREC policies or procedures, failure to follow the direction of ChargerREC employees, trespassing, aiding or abetting, and verbal or physical harm inflicted upon an employee or other individual. 
  • Actions that involve any form of harassment, violence, threats, sexual misconduct, or any other university policy will be forwarded to the Dean of Students.
  • Depending on the severity and circumstances of the action decisions on disciplinary action will be made by the Director of Campus Recreation and/or the Dean of Students and/or the Student Conduct Board.

All wellness services including Massage Therapy and Personal Training have been suspended until further notice.
